Website: http://MrEnergyCzar.com This is my Peak Oil book review of the book, "Blackout" by Richard Heinberg. Coal, Climate and the Last Energy Crisis. I give this book three stars. I like Heinberg a lot. It's basically about coal and how much reserves in the U.S., China and the rest of the world including Australia. Excellent graphs and in-depth coal reserves analysis. Heinberg also goes into the types of coal which is important as we go deeper and mine lower quality coal. There is a great section on net-energy or EROEI. Clean coal or the lack of clean coal technology is discussed. Heinberg is realistic about our coal usage in the future. It's not too positive, it's going to be peaking globally and we're going to have a whole set of issues when that happens. He does give three good potential scenarios of how our coal future will pay out in the coming decades. He breaks it down by decade depending on which of the three scenarios we take.
