Love your videos, but the volt is a $40,000 bandaid toward solving our energy problems. Have fun getting Lithium batteries in ten years. Hydrogen fuel is the long term answer but it requires an entire infrastructure change and sadly it will not happen for generations.
@Treaster99 That is correct there are only band-aids for Peak Oil. Hydrogen is a net energy loser so I can’t see that ever happening on a large scale……

I’m curious why you chose the Volt over the Leaf (which you also mentioned). Do you prefer the ability to use either gas or electric? Love your videos.
@jdsfrisco I prefer the Volt over the Leaf because I occasionally have to travel beyond the Leaf’s 73 mile EV rated range.

you can not carry4 people comfortly and grocerys,also its just for inner city driving For $40.000 i can a better buy for my buck with a gas car !Oh and to repair the volt cost just as much or more than a SUV ? Thanks and no thanks !
@latlanticcityphil Thanks for the comment. It’s for driving anywhere and it’s much cheaper to fuel than an SUV which is what I replaced. The instant full torque is hard to describe.

Just got my volt and have traveled more than 600 miles without any “help” from OPEC. No more wars for oil. This is the future and it’s coming fast!

I just ordered the Voltec SPX charger today. I see that is it 15A. Does this limit the speed of charge vs. the 30A chargers on the market. SPX said no but I thought I’d make sure.
@johnster0071 You install a 20A grounded dedicated circuit to be safe. The charger is actually in the Volt and will only charge at a max of like 3,500 watts. The 30A chargers I think can be handled by the current Tesla and the coming all electric Ford Focus. That is why you’ll hear that the Focus charges twice as fast as the Leaf does….. The 10 miles per hour of charge will be the max for the Volt…
@MrEnergyCzar thanks for that info; I was searching around for the max current the volt could handle. If that’s true, then there is zero need for anyone to buy a fancy charger and just stick to the Voltec. Ordered mine today, hope to get it within a week!
@jtmcdole Yeah, really the charger is in the actual Volt and the “charger” is an on off switch to allow the current to go through…. best of luck.

I think the reason I’m considering another charging station brand is just because the SPX one looks ridiculously cheap compared to say, a Blink-branded charger.

No, I have two, one at home and at work. No issues. Think of them as just a switch. They really aren’t charging stations, the charger is in the car itself. The GM dealers also use the SPX…
